Update from Faith Formation Team

So much is happening right now around Grace! Even though some things have changed due to COVID-19, much has remained the same. The Fall is always a busy and exciting time.

Sunday Spirit: Ms. Linda shares her love of Jesus with our youngest people each Sunday morning at 10:00 am in the North Room. Her group is growing and she would welcome a helper. If you are interested in helping (even on a part-time basis) with a short, informal, fun class on Sunday mornings, please contact Linda or Pastor Sarah.

Grace Time: Our adult bible study continues every Sunday morning at 10:00 am. At this time, we are wearing masks and meeting in person, as well as via ZOOM.

Prayer Retreat: Our Fall Prayer Retreat is coming up quickly. We are headed to Emmanuel Pines Camp in Prescott October 1 – 3.  We leave around 2:00 pm on Friday and return on Sunday around 3:00 pm. We have plenty of room for more people to join us. While there, we will study God’s word, sing, pray, reflect, eat, (the food is great!), and enjoy the lovely woods of (cooler) Northern Arizona.  Don’t worry if you have never been to a retreat or one of our retreats. It is a very low stress, casual atmosphere and we have a ton of fun. The cost is $120.00. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Sarah as soon as possible.

Mission Trip/Soul Journey: We sorely missed having a trip these past two summers! In summer 2022, we will journey to Holden Village in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. Deadline to sign up is November 1; please email Pastor Sarah for specific information. Expectations of all participants include regular worship attendance (at least twice per month), participation in monthly team-building sessions, and participation in at least half of all fundraisers.

Prayer Group: Our weekly prayer group continues each Tuesday morning at 10:30 am in the North Room. If you have someone/something you’d like us to include in prayer, you can email the church office, and Adrienne will pass it along to the group. We also have two new prayer request boxes (thanks to Carol!) in the parking lots near the parking meters.

Knitwits: Knitwits continues monthly at Carol’s home. This is our prayer shawl ministry. The group is teaching a new person to knit! For more information, see Pastor Sarah or Carol.

Small Groups: We recently finished an 8-week small group called Lazarus at the Gate. This was a curriculum focused on living gratefully, simply, justly, and generously. Right now, a group we call Honoring our Neighbor’s Faith is in the process of learning about non-Christian faith traditions. So far, we have visited a mosque in Tempe, a Sikh temple in Phoenix, a Jewish synagogue in Phoenix, and a zoom session with a Baha’i community in Phoenix. Keep your eyes open for new small group opportunities!
