Heat Respite Volunteer Orientation

Last year we served 10,969 folks with the help of just over 160 volunteers. Here's your chance to help.

On Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 am in Hope Hall, we will hold Heat Respite Volunteer orientation.

At Grace, we are called by God to be in the city for good! To that end, we will host a heat relief station in Hope Hall, June 12-September 1, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

Our mission during the summer months is to provide a space for heat relief who would otherwise be on the street, while building community through the sharing of meals, water, community resources and ourselves. For all those who will be volunteering, or are interested in volunteering, we invite you to attend the orientation held in Hope Hall Saturday June 3 at 10:00 am.

During orientation we will discuss important safety procedures, daily routines, responsibilities, and the overall purpose and ethos of Grace and the Heat Respite. This is also a great chance to meet some of your fellow volunteers, build relationships, and arrange carpools. Lunch will be served following orientation.

Please RSVP at outreach@graceinthecity.com or 602-258-3787 if you plan to attend so we know how many to prepare for. Volunteering is not contingent upon attending the orientation, but it is highly recommended.

If you are interested in participating in the 2017 Heat Respite or are unable to attend the orientation, please contact our outreach coordinator Kim Davidson at outreach@graceinthecity.com or 602-651-1182 for a digital copy of the orientation materials.
